Texas. My first visit to Texas occurred last weekend. I participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day event in Dallas.

I hate to be offensive because I know that I’m really proud to be a Kentuckian (and I genuinely love my state), and I’m sure there are many proud Texans out there, but I don’t think Texas is for me. At least the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is most definitely not for me.
But hey, I’m certain that Kentucky is not for most people. So there.

I can now add Idaho and Utah to my list of visited states. I spent several nights in lovely Idaho and one in Utah on the way back to Colorado. Yippee!

North East 2 years ago

Maine: spent a long vacation (~3 weeks)there after I graduated from college. Lots of camping and backpacking. It was wonderful.

New Hampshire: camping trip. Pretty.

Vermont: I backpacked a section of the Long Trail, and toured Ben and Jerry’s, both of which were fantastic!

Conneticut: Camped at a state park there on the way to Maine.

Pennsylvania: Recently spent two nights there visiting a family member.

Washington, D.C. (o.k., not really in the “North East”, but I’ll put it here anyway): stayed in a hostel here on the way to Maine. Spent a day touring the monuments.

I’ve been to many states, but I’ve never taken the time to document them. I only count a visit to a state if I’ve spent the night there. Airports don’t count for me.

I’ll start now:

Kentucky: obviously. I’ve slept here a whole lot.

Tennessee: I’ve been on numerous occasions—most of which were camping trips.

Ohio: I’ve been to a meeting and concerts in Cincy and to another meeting in Columbus. I’ve been to visit my sister, who lives in central Ohio.

Indiana: I’ve been to meetings in Indianapolis and I’ve spent a lot of time in southern Indiana. I’ve also been camping in Hoosier National Forest and to a wedding in French Lick.

North Carolina: one of my favorites. I’ve done a lot of camping in western North Carolina and some paddling; I’ve been to a meeting in Raleigh.

Georgia: I’ve been to Atlanta. That’s were I did the 3-Day walk.

Alabama: I’ve been to Gulf Shores.

Florida: Update-I went on a recent sailing trip in the Keys.-
I went to Panama City in high school. And I went with my family to New Smyrna when I was a kid.

Mississippi: I did hurricane relief work there in 2005.

Louisiana: I’ve been to New Orleans and Baton Rouge many times to visit friends.

Arkansas: I camped near the Buffalo River on a geomorphology field trip.

West Virginia: I camped in the Monongahela National Forest and I’ve been to meetings in Morgantown. Beautiful state!

O.K. I’ll stop there for now. I pretty much covered my trips near Kentucky. I’ll focus on the NE next. I can’t believe I haven’t been to South Carolina. I’ll have to change that!

update:
South Carolina: spent time on Isle of Palms Beach as well as Edisto Beach. And paddled a 22 mile section of the Edisto River.
