I finished reading Memorias de una Geisha por Arthur Golden and I enjoyed it very much. It was a re-read and I’ve seen the movie as well, but I got a kick out of reading it in Spanish. (Un)Fortunately, my stack is growing rather than shrinking. I guess I have an embarrassment of riches in books in Spanish.

I bought a copy of Memorias de una geisha this weekend and I love it so far. I am clinging to stories I know for my Spanish reading b/c the words I don’t know yet really trip me up when I don’t know the story either.
But hey, I’m still reading in Spanish so that’s awesome.

I just finished reading El Hobbit and I loved it. Challenging, and worth the challenge, a double boon.

I’m at the mid-point of El Hobbit and it’s been a bit more challenging than the Harry Potter books, all in all. I’ve been able to guess the meaning of some nouns by their repetition (enano is dwarf, for example) but Tolkien’s language is a little more erudite at times, which is causing me to do more re-reading to get the gist of the action. I forgot about the bear-man, Beorn. He’s just seen the band of thieves off into the Black Forest, and they’ve had their run-in with the enchanted stream. I think I’ll spend a little time today, reading some more (but I have cleaning to do!).

I finished reading Un Grillo En Times Square by George Selden – it was cute, and I am definitely getting faster! Now I’m onto El Hobbit, because I want more of a break before I go back to the last Harry Potter book. I’m a bit HP’d out.

I bought a really nice copy of Cien años de soledad for my birthday and have it on the shelf, resting patiently while I learn more so I can tackle that one someday. It’s a big mountain, so to speak, and I’m not quite ready to climb it, but it’s good to have clear goals. When I read that one, it will be a BIG deal.
