The only reason that I'm not working on this, is that Ancestry.com is expensive 8 months ago

I’m not saying that they don’t deserve the fees that they charge. They have done a magnificent job, but its just not in my budget right now.

My father’s side of the family has proven much more difficult. He died when I was young, and that part of my family lived in Michigan, so access to those records is more of a challenge.
