- Make sure you always have some reading with you, either a book, paper, magazine, or an e-reader/tablet. Having a PDF which you can email around, add to Dropbox etc. lets you read whenever you are at a computer, on a ipad/iphone etc.
- If you catch public transport, try to read then.
- Read the contents, and skim the index of any books you are reading, then do a quick skim/speed read of the text. If you are reading a PDF, you can get Acrobat to flip through the pages real quick automatically. I do this a few times, as fast as I can, then settle down to read in more detail
- Take breaks every 45mins or so
- Write notes, highlight, mindmap, as you read, but don’t worry too much about following a strict form, just doodle as you go. You’ll want to go back an rewrite more formal notes or mind maps to reinforce your studying anyway.
