Keeping on keeping on . . . 2 years ago

Danced again last night – it really is becoming more natural for me. My body just has to learn how to move in a fluid motion, and it’s getting there. I’m really excited about the new me!



Haitus is over 2 years ago

Last summer, a friend of mine bought a DVD and we danced at her house every week religiously – for about four weeks. After that, the habit kinda died and I’ve not danced since.

Last night, however, we revived this band of dancers, and are excited to see what we can do. It was interesting to see how much more readily the movements came to me, having familiarized myself with them over the summer.

I was always told growing up to keep a straight back, and keep my shoulers high, and keep my head erect, and sit tall and. . . and. . . As a result, my movements have tended to be very regimented and military, not terribly fluid. However, having never danced as a child, I’m convinced that I can begin dancing as an adult and find that fluidity that other people seem to have.

Last weekend I went roller skating, and I could feel myself loosening up as the night wore on. That, too, is all about keeping yourself loose, going with the motion of the skates, being fluid.

I’ll keep you posted as to the progress of this goal as time progresses – in the meantime, it’s a nice way to hang out with the girls once a week and it’s great exercise. And it gets me in touch with my feminine wiles too, which is a nice little bonus.
