I'm trying this method out 11 months ago

this guy who wrote this book was on to something.

He employs a method of calendar, to do list, and note taking that is different than what I’m used to, but it’s more streamlined once you get used to it (you only reference the calendar once a day in the morning, for a few moments)

It’s (so far) helped me tackle things I was procrastinating doing for weeks on end. I am kind of liking it. We’ll see how his advice for studying goes…these books are usually written for people in courses like comparative literature, or classical history, political science and the lot.

I don’t know if it will help me with advanced pharmacology or genetics, but it’s worth a shot! Those courses are bound to kill me when I get back to school.

I barely kept my head above water at Columbia, and I did get a few B grades (and one C!) so I’m not as flawless as I used to be.

It was easier when I was a big fish in a little pond…get to that Ivy League pond and it’s a whole different story!

finally 17 months ago

after four years, I was able to file the forms for the trust my mom left me…the piece of $h*t lawyer that cashed the check for doing the work, didn’t.

My next thing on the “to do” list is “call the bar association” on that bastard and file a complaint, or start a civil action against him.

I have bigger fish to fry, currently, so it will have to wait until I’m “well enough” or have hair again.

my day is just starting 19 months ago

but before I went to bed this morning, I washed the dog outside, under the hose. This had the two-fold benefit of getting him clean, and also cooling him off (it was 90 degrees here yesterday!)

I slept for four hours, got up and fed him his dinner.
Then I washed two cars, and caulked the tub.

tonight, while normal people sleep, I might clean the garage.

I said might!

WHEW! 19 months ago

I patched the drywall on the stairs, peeled most of the wall paper in prep for doing a venetian plaster treatment, vacuumed the upstairs and stairs, ran a load of laundry, made dinner (If you can call what I eat between 03:00 and 04:00 “dinner”) took a nice hot bath, gave myself a pedicure, started to re-caulk the tub…what else…

Now I have an interview at 10:00 at an ICU that would be a bit more of a commute, but the experience and money would be way better.

THEN, I’m going to come home, wash two cars, and give the dog a bath before going to bed and hopefully sleeping more than 3 or 4 hours.

My dog’s not happy about the hubby being awway, and living life backwards, sleeping days and living nights, like a cat!

Time to myself 19 months ago

since I work nights, and I’m up all night on my nights off, it’s impossible for me to do anything.

My hubby’s out of town for a couple of days, so I’ve got a HUGE list of stuff I’m going to be able to do with these nights off that I normally can’t.

One thing I’d like to do is paint and patch one wall that needs some repair.

Another thing is vacuum the entire house up and down!

I’m also planning on clearing off the kitchen table (again!)

I’m also going to make the famous house pasta sauce we freeze for pizzas and pastas on work nights, and probably bake a few things for his return to welcome him home :)

Maybe a cake, or a pie…he likes pie.

A few other things on the burner: A job interview at a busy ICU, maybe picking up my new glasses, and getting a hair cut!!!

If I’m lucky, I’ll get to do some laundry, ironing, (though, I could iron at night while he sleeps) and I plan on getting on that elliptical that’s in the bedroom that I haven’t seen since I started working nights last November.

I could also sort thru the garage and clean it out before he gets back, so maybe I can also make a run to the goodwill to donate and clear up some clutter :)

Whew, I’m tired already!

Just not happening 20 months ago

Today, I went to bed around 06:00 and woke up at 10:00 (my neighbors’ fat little butterball had a Sponge Bob bouncing castle inflating in their back yard, and you can imagine the ruckus, even ear plugs and my sound machine couldn’t cover) and though I was awake in the day time, I didn’t have much energy to do much.

I sat around, and thought about what I needed to be doing, though.

At 4 pm, I fell asleep on the couch and slept for another four hours, and now it’s time to get ready for work.

I’m not being very effective, these days. I feel sort of weak, not so much tired, but just with enough energy to think about what I should be doing not actually doing it.

Sheesh.
