Working nights

this is pretty much impossible anymore.
Plus, I just recently got the equitable treatment of getting every other weekend off.

I was getting scheduled one weekend, then the following weekend I’d be put on the schedule for one day of the weekend, like Off Thursday/Friday, work saturday, off sunday, work Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday.

It sucked.

last weekend...

maximum syncrosity.
The Van-o-rama group, a meeting of syncros and tristars and regular ol’ two-wheel drive buses met in South San Fran.

A good time was had by all.
and many ideas were had
and many things added to my wish list

:(

This weekend, there was little going on.
My pooch had surgery to remove a small lump and it’s been a constant baby-sitting, nursing job all weekend.

I even slept on the floor next to his bed, so I could hear if he was going to attack the sutures. He can’t stand the satelite dish, so I couldn’t put it on him.

His pain pills were way too much too. The first dose turned him into a drooling, extended tongue zombie. Instead of giving him 50 mg every 8 hours, I gave him 25 mg every 6, which seemed to give him an even coverage and not make him sleepy and drooly, but just took care of his pacing and moaning so he seemed comfortable.

I tell ya…as hard as it is to be a people nurse, a dog nurse is far harder. Their symptoms are much more sublime than those displayed by people (those people that deny pain, yet clutch at the sheets, breathe rapidly, have elevated blood pressures and shift position frequently)

Dogs are good at hiding their injuries or discomfort, so as not to be selected out of the pack.

Wilderness Camping

Ah, what a great way to slow the mental wheels from spinning into a frenzy as I awaited the test results.

Spent 3 days up north camping in Richardson Grove (a place that’s changed a lot since I was a kid, or maybe I’ve changed)and Sinkyone Park, at the end of a rough 4wd road.

It was exceptionally beautiful. My dog saw (for the first time ever) a gaggle of turkeys wandering near our site, wild bunnies, and elk (from the car…they’re as big as moose so you can’t get out and “mingle”)

He’s so wiped out right now, I bet he’ll sleep for 3 days straight.

This weekend

I went to the North Beach Jazz Festival (took the train, even) and today went out with a friend for lunch and saw the Simpsons movie.

I can’t wait for this test to be behind me so I can go out for real, again!
