Every little girl dreams of their wedding day. Today, I took one step closer to my dream. I bought my wedding dress today.
Although John and I got engaged in Bali last year, I haven’t had family or many friends to share this dream with because I’m so far away from home. My wedding day has seemed like a distant dream until today. After finding the dress and adding the veil, I suddenly realised that it’s really going to happen. I truly feel like a bride-to-be now.
My sister, Shauna, and I spent a lovely afternoon at Sinders Bridal House in Carleton Place. We muddled through a mess of gorgeous gowns and were able to narrow the choice down to three stunners. My mother arrived to help me with the final decision. My dress isn’t anything like thought it would be and yet it’s so unbelievably perfect that I couldn’t help it. I knew it was meant to be the moment I put it on.
We also decided on colors for the wedding party and I’m leaving Canada with a lighter load to carry. I can’t tell you what a relief it is to know that this is taken care of. John and I will be returning to Canada a few months before the wedding in November 2008. Knowing my dress and accessories are taken care of means that everything else will fall in to place over the next year.
I want to remember this day and this feeling forever. I think today is the first day I’ve ever cried tears of joy. They were the best tears I’ve ever shed.
I’m getting married!
