home made yogurt, 22 months ago

stews, pizza dough. locally grown produce and my own, humble garden. i am actually not going to join slow food itself, because it seems very elitest, but i would say that i have adopted the key principles.

slowly but surely 2 years ago
moving toward more organic, real food, less processed, packaged, pre-made food.
  • i now make my own yogurt, and top it with honey, fruit (figs today!), granola.
  • i’ve started making stone-cut oatmeal, too, in big batches, so i can freeze some and re-heat it easy peasey
  • slow cooked leafy green veggies. they are good for topping soups and other dishes
  • tea sometimes instead of coffee
  • more visits to berkeley bowl. the variety is phenom. i am especially enamored with their asian foods.

tonight is 2 years ago

frugal foodies night! moses just got back from west africa…i am looking forward to good food and lots of travel stories and photographs.

roasted chicken and veggies 2 years ago

last night. i broke in the new roasting pan i bought. yummy, but the vegs turned out a bit soft. i didn’t realize how little time they would need, compared to the chicken. ah, a real kitchen! (i’ve lived in a place without a full kitchen for 5 years – can you believe it!!)

i am heading towards this 2 years ago

now that i actually have a kitchen that i can use on a regular basis, i have been cooking more. i’ve pulled out my cookbooks, and even baked banana bread last night.
today, i ordered a kneading blade for my bread maker, (i know, this is very much cheating, but it’s a start). i used to make bread, pizza dough and foccacia in it, and i look forward to doing this more.
