Inner meaning to life

I use the verb “cultivate” as: first, “nurture” - in the sense of developing optimism by study and practice; and second, “educate” - in the the sense of passing along the benefits of optimism to others.
Why “Optimism”?—because it brings to life the following qualities: hope, peace, new opportunities, and effectiveness.
This ties into my other goal: Happiness (see http://www.43things.com/people/progress/gochess/97581 )
—which I have learned by practice, is not the outcome of external circumstances, but rather generated by one’s expectations. The developed state of mind which leads to maximum positive expectation is optimism.
