TOUCHING THE VOID: this film is a great metaphor
for my own inner struggle. It represented the
confrontation with a most fearful and painful
situation… being stuck in an inner crevice where
the bottom seems endless, where suffering seems
unendurable, and death a virtual certainty.
Everything becomes dependent on one focal point:
one’s attitude. Do I go on with life? Make
decisions, even if they might be erroneous? Take
the risk to actually enter the void?
The test comes up every single day in the way we
let our inner core beliefs dictate our actions.
Somehow I know by faith that there is actually no
bottom (like the illusionary snake in the night
which turns out to be a rope in the morning).
My goal is about overcoming fear itself, to
comprehend the meaning of human suffering and the
transistory nature of death itself—to become
fearless.

A young man traveled to Moscow to seek out secrets from a Grand Chessmaster. The first question he asked was, “What is the best move?” The master remained silent for a long time, and replied: “it depends on the unique situation, and now I must conclude this interview.”
Questions must be framed correctly. “What is THE meaning of life?” probably has no absolute answer, it all depends: time, place, situation, person, mood, etc.
Some questions are meant to be asked, and others are really meant to be answered. I would like to ask appropriate questions at the right time, and ACT on the right response as I develop.
This ability to respond is codified in one word: responsibility. Ah, yes, the responsibility to live my life now… is to give meaning to my future: a purpose for which I will strive with all my being. (Subject to change and whims of nature; void where prohibited :-)
