Played again Saturday at the same par 3 course. Made the green a couple of times on the 1st shot today, but actually the boys were playing much better too and were giving me a run for the money. Total cost was $13 for 2 hours of fun. Thats cheap!

Played the 9 hole course in Norwalk with the boys yesterday, and their play is becoming more consistently, although I still won most of the skins. I lost 2 balls and I was a little bummed by that. Maybe in a month or two we will play on a real 18 hole course.
I played a round of golf after work for $20 including the cart. The course is pretty beat up, but it was in better condition than I would have thought considering the water shortage + money problems both the county and state have right now.
There were very few people out playing golf today, which was one reason why I decided to play on the course instead of hit on the range. I was hitting too many balls to the right, but I thought overall I did OK considering I hadn’t really played in so long. This was the first time playing with my new clubs too.
I’m hoping to get a friend of mine to go out with me, but he is a slave to his work and his wife, so he hasn’t been “allowed” to play golf in a long time. I’ll keep working on him too.
Took my sons out for a golf lesson Saturday. They remembered a bit about hitting the ball and after a few reminders on stance and club position, were actually doing good. After the lesson we went out on the 9 hole par 3 and Orion did very well, beating both me and Cory on 3 of the holes. It was a good workout for all and we all rewarded ourselves with chocolate shakes afterwards.
Went over to sports authority this morning and bought a new set of Wilson clubs at a pretty good discount, so I finally have a new set of clubs. I will start practicing with them this weekend. Buying them put a smile on my face.
I pulled out my old clubs because I felt like getting some practice on the range, except that the range closed before the course closed (strange!) Anyway, instead of just going back home, I decided to go ahead and play even through I hadn’t played in at least 6 months. I actually didn’t do that bad and although I shot 5 or 6 most holes, my accuracy was much better than I expected. I just need to work on the strength of the swing to get more distance and consistency. I forgot to take a photo….sorry :-(
I had a nice set of clubs once, but they were stolen out of my car a long time ago. Been playing with a beater set and decided I will buy a new club set this year. Big5 Sporting Goods has Nitro and Alien golf club sets for about $150 most of the time, but I’d like to go to a real golfing store that has a better selection. The trouble is there are no golf shops near me anymore. The bad economy got rid of them in the last couple of years.
I guess I’ll have to do a bit of driving to get my shopping done.
