move to hawaii

I titled this entry as so because I have now been to Hawaii 3 times in my adult life, and each and everytime I come back to the mainland I wonder why I don’t live out there. The weather is the best in the world, the surf is incredible, the people are crazy friendly, and there’s food growing on everybody’s property!

So I’m not going to forget about it this time and let it slip away. The only things holding me back here are my job and one special person. It’s already a goal of mine to leave work, even more so now that I know what I want. What’s going to make it difficult is if this relationship should develop further. For I have learned that the people you are with can be far more important than the place you are at.

So I will start my preparations to move/travel, and see how the relationship unfolds. I’m going to be open to whatever feels right along the way, and just go with the flow. After all, life is too short to worry about things and get stressed out. Follow your heart and you can do no wrong.

My aunt and uncle have lived here my whole life and I guess I always took that for granted. All of that changed when I got the chance to visit in 2005 on a 2 week business trip. I was swept away by the beauty, culture, people, city, ocean, etc. It was even powerful enough that I took up the sport of triathlon.

I was fortunate enough to go back for another 2 weeks this past January and decided then and there that I would live there some day. Financial security (and other people) have been holding me down from pursuing this dream of mine. Mark my words, I will be there come Ironman Championships in October!
