I heard a lady talking in Waffle House the other day about her four year old grandaughter who “doesn’t like food.” She explained that she will eat cheese and donuts, but that’s all. No actual food. It was then that I realized how little of the American diet is actually composed of food. Most of it is “product.” That is seriously fucked up. Whatever wack system the Food Pyramid was based on is so ridiculous. Grains should NOT be the main part of our diet – especially because we rarely if ever actually eat GRAINS. We eat cereals and cereal bars, bread, crackers, chips, noodles, etc. Yeah, actual grians are good for a body, but refined products made with grains are not always good. Totally ridiculous to base a diet on fake food. Vegetables. THEN meat and grains. That’s what I think. And there’s no way around it – vegetables are just REAL FOOD, no matter how you slice them or what you pour on top.
