So I am in a bit of a predicament. I found out I am pregnant about a week ago, which is terrific news. However, my sister’s wedding is in one week from tomorrow. What’s the problem, you might ask? Well, in a moment of sheer stupidity, I ordered the bridesmaid’s dress for her wedding in a size too small, thinking that I would be easily able to lose the weight and fit into the dress by the beginning of August. I actually got to the point about a week ago when I could fit in (albeit tightly) and then I found out about the pregnancy.
Since then, my husband has – probably rightfully – insisted that I increase my caloric intake. The problem is that when I eat the amount recommended for the baby’s health, I can feel myself getting bigger. I don’t really seem to be gaining weight, but I think that my stomach is obviously bigger. Since it won’t be good for the baby to be squeezed into an ultra tight dress for the duration of the ceremony and reception and it’s not good for the baby for me to eat less than 2,000 calories, I’m not at all sure what to do!
To further complicate matters, no one, other than my husband, knows about the pregnancy. We wanted to wait until after the wedding so we don’t steal my sister’s thunder, so to speak. So people are just thinking that I’m being lazy or have lost will power because I am now eating like 500 more calories a day. My sister will be pissed if I can’t fit in this dress and I can’t tell her why without overshadowing her on her big day.
What should I do?!? Any advice would be helpful and greatly appreciated!
