This month I’m reading ‘Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See’. I’m about halfway through and so far so good.

I have been reading constantly since the beginning of 2007 (yeah!). I am currently reading Daddy’s Little Girls by Mary Higgins Clark. It is an easy read about a woman – Ellie, whose sister was killed when she was 7. The book fast forwards to 22 years later when Ellie begins to investigate the man who was convicted of the murder based on the evidence she gave at the time of the murder. The accused – Rob who has always denied being guilty, is being released from prision when the book starts and Ellie, who is not happy about this sets out to do all she can to prove his guilt once and for all.
I have also read Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve written my thoughts about it on my blog – http://gorgeousknits.blogspot.com/ under the Feb 13th, 2007 entry titled ‘My Confessions…’
Ok it’s Jan 07 and so far this year I have finished reading one book. Yesterday I read the Narrative of Frederick Douglass in less than 24 hours. It is a very short easy to read book though quite a harrowing representation of a life. I really loved the flow of the language used to write it and so glad I spent my time with it instead of watching tv which is what I usually do in the evening.
Right now I am trying to finish Bachelor Girl by Betsy Israel which is about the secret history of single women (in the US) in the 20th century. It’s very interesting, but taking me an age to finish as I only seem to dip into it right before I go to sleep so therefore only manage a page or two before dropping off. I’m only on page 94/246 and have been reading it for what seems like forever. I am going to get my nose stuck into it and finish it by the end of the week. Sunday at the very, very latest.
I am dreadful with my reading since I stopped travelling by tube, at the most I read for half an hour a day whereas before it used to be at least 2 hours. The cursed TV is always on in our house and I sit in front of it instead of going to bed an hour early and enjoying the peace and quiet of an hour of reading. Well no more, I am sick of myself doing this. I have already chosen my book for Jan 07, its Hip Tranquil Chick: A Guide to Life on and Off the Yoga Mat by Kimberly Wilson. I love yoga and as I am looking for inspiration to help me achieve my goals right now this book should be a good start for 2007 for me. If you’ve read it let me know what you think.
Namaste.
I have been reading this book now for almost 6 months. I borrowed it from my local library and have had to take it back twice so they can see that the book does actually still exist and has not been spirited away.
I am actually enjoying the book and won’t give up on it but I stopped travelling by tube in June 2005 and since then can’t seem to find time to read. When I was travelling by tube it would take me about a week to finish a book. Now it takes longer than that to get past the synopsis! I am less than 50 pages away from the last page so I can just about spy that light at the end of the tunnel. The weird thing about me is that I keep going to the library, taking books out and then get tired of having to keep renewing them because I am still reading Lolita!
