"nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave"

57.) The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn, 384 pages – these Bridgerton books are just soo good! Loved this one! (27th Oct)
58.) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by John le Carre, 422 pages – read this because I wanted to watch the film, but oh my god, it was so boring, and it took me ages to read because the only time I could be bothered to read it was on the tube to and from work/uni. Disappointment. (29th Oct)
59.) Whitney My Love by Judith McNaught, 708 pages (13th Nov)
60.) An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn, 384 pages – really sweet book, loved the fairy tale re-telling :) – (15th Nov)
61.) Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M Pirsig, 417 pages – I recommend reading this one slowly, with a pen and paper on hand for quotes and underlying passages. (17th Nov)
62.) Romancing Mr Bridgerton by Julia Quinn, 320 pages – i.e. the one where Lady Whistledown is finally revealed – did not see that one coming! (24th Nov)
63.) The Season by Sarah MacLean, 352 pages – so bad, and the whole uncle thing was so obvious! (28 Nov)
64.) How to Marry a Marquis by Julia Quinn, 375 pages (30th Nov)
65.) The Road by Cormac McCarthy, 307 pages – amazing, amazing, amazing book! (30th Nov)
66.) Mary Anne by Daphne du Maurier, 385 pages – really interesting book, I’m hooked on du Maurier, love her! (09th Dec)
67.) Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier – definitely a lot more graphic an violent than what I was expecting, but it was still very, very good! (21st Dec)

And I’m done for the year, I’m not really reading anything right now other than textbooks, research papers and books on statistics – very dull stuff, all for uni, boo, so I doubt I’ll get any other books finished this year!

"where can we hide in fair weather, we orphans of the storm?"

51.) Minx by Julia Quinn, 391 pages – okay book, really nothing speacial, kind of had to force myself to finish it. (04th Oct)
52.) Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote, 157 pages – different from what I remembered of the film, not sure what I thought. I really loved the 3 short stories though, they were great. (05th Oct)

54.) Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel by Eion Colfer & Andrew Donkin, 112 pages – obviously not as good as the real book, but pretty good nonetheless, the art was alright, wish it was more ‘manga’ though (15th Oct)
55.) Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, 326 pages – I’ve only seen the film version (which I love), but the book was so much more in every way (as always) – another great read (16th Oct)

"it must be, it must be"

50.) The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, 305 pages

not my words:
I happened to pick this book up by accident. Intrigued by its title, I read through the first two pages. It was very dense, and I thought it would be a hard read…but it flowed easily while touching many philosophical questions. As you followed the characters along, you realize how the characters represent what is human in all of us. This book was an amazing experience. Kundera develops the characters so well, that you become very attached to them. They become a part of you. Kundera also beautifully describes their thoughts and experiences. He puts into words everything you have thought about life and people and (mis-)communication but never really made it to the surface of your thoughts. A wonderful read that keeps you captivated until the end. It’s not difficult to read, but you will constantly be thinking. amazon review

So… I guess I’m done! I’ll probably continue to track my 2011 books here though, just for the sake of convenience :)

“we're not meant for happiness, you and I.”

49.) Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, 448 pages (amazing book! Such beautiful writing, filled of suspense and intrigue and the most brilliant host of characters – even the very chilling Mrs Danvers – I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone!)

finished on: 27th September

"hope will break the heart better than any sorrow"

48.) Wood Angel by Erin Bow, 270 pages (borrowed this from my little cousin – and since it was aimed at younger peeps, I thought it’d be a nice little story about magic and fairies et cetera – but nope, this book was actualy really quite sad, Kate never seemed to be able to catch a break – just one unhappy incident after the other. Anyways, despite all the sorrow and sadness, I still enjoyed this beautifully written book)

Plain Kate lives in a time afraid of magic. She has a gift for carving ‘lucky’ wooden-charms. Known as Witch-Blade, her unusual gift attracts dangerous attention in a place where witches are burned. When her village falls on bad times, suspicion falls on Kate. Scared for her life, she seeks the help of a mysterious stranger. In exchange for her shadow, the stranger will assist her, but Kate becomes part of a terrifying plan, darker than she ever dreamed.

this is ourselves, under pressure

47.) Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter, 264 pages (another great read – actually enjoyed this one even more than the first – if that was even possible – can’t wait to read more Gallagher Girl books!)

finished on: 11th September

i could have been wild and i could have been free

46.) I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter, 309 pages (really enjoyed this book – found it absolutely hilarious!)

The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women is a fairly typical all-girls school—that is, if every school teaches advanced martial arts in PE, chemistry always consists of the latest in chemical warfare, and everyone breaks CIA codes for extra credit in computer class. So in truth, Gallagher Academy might posit itself as a school for geniuses but what they really mean is spies. But what happens when a Gallagher Girl falls for a boy who doesn’t have a code name? Cammie Morgan may be fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways (three of which involve a piece of uncooked spaghetti), but the Gallagher Academy hasn’t prepared her for what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she’s an ordinary girl. Sure, she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, and track him through a mall without him ever being the wiser, but can she have a regular relationship with a regular boy who can never know the truth about her? Cammie may be an elite spy in training, but in her sophomore year, she’s doing something riskier than ever—she’s falling in love.

finished on: 7th September

"on the road to nowhere through this sweet green land"

45.) Pegasus by Robin McKinley, 404 pages (took me a (long) while to get into, but then, my imagination was captured and I fell in love. Such a beautiful read. I’m really hoping that McKinley writes a sequel, because that ending definitely did not leave a lot of closure!)

p.s. look at the cover! – absolutely gorgeous :)
