Join a beekeeping organization

When I decided last year I wanted to be a beekeeper I joined a beekeeping association. I am the youngest member. Most of the people are elderly. You would not believe the amount of knowledge I have gained with spending time with these people. They are so happy to see a young person (to them 30 is young) interested in their craft. This will be my first year for keeping my own hives. My husband is a carpenter so he is building my boxes for me using plans I found on the internet and showed to the group to make sure they looked ok. I am attending a Bee School in February to take classes on topics. My long term goal is to make natural cosmetics from the honey I don’t eat!
