Well I’ve paid off the old debts, but have brand new ones. At the moment I’ve got about $1000 outstanding on my credit card. Fortunately, my limit is $1000, so it can’t get much worse. Most of the debt is actually debt that was planned to occur, which is not a good thing. $400 is for loan payments, ironically. Am I the only one who thinks its weird that finance companies these days prefer you to pay via credit card?
Either way, that $400 will be a regular re-occurring debt on the card every month and is covered by a regular $200 payment. The part of the debt that concerns me is the $600 that’s for other stuff. I’m planning to ensure that in 3 months time, the only debts that occur on the credit card are the 2 recurring payments that I regularly pay off the card every month in any case. My main concern is paying 0% interest. Once I’ve caught up the other $600, I’ll consider this done.
I had expected to pay my rego for one of my cars out of the credit card. I was delighted to discover today that the required green slip part was going to cost $250 or so less than I had anticipated! I am so happy its just not funny.
Once I have actually paid the registration (which needs both the pink slip and green slip – have done both) I’ll have a better idea of where I am at with this debt. Either way, I’m totally stoked that I’m $250 less in debt than I expected to be at this point!
At the moment, its quite good, but the moment I pay my rego, its going to be appalling. I’m hoping that the mechanical stuff that needs to be done on the car is minimal. However, as the car has been in for repairs for 2 weeks now, I’m not that hopeful any more. I’m astonished that I haven’t even been contacted about the car, but I’ll find out on Monday one way or another.
So, I’ll aim to get my credit card paid down to $0 as soon as I can. Once I get another job, it should be a lot easier to get this one finished.
