i knew it would be, but it’s so refreshing to love to go to work after loathing it for so frickin’ long.
trust me.

yup.
i’d been reiterating to everyone the reality of jobhunting in the contracting world, which pretty much requires immediate availability – the sort of thing where someone says “hay, my friend has a friend who’s sister’s co-worker is looking for someone with your skills. I think it’s in X department, and may requires some communications and marketing skills. here’s her e-mail.” and so you hit GO.
these things tend to do one of 3 things. a) go nowhere. b) go nowhere immediately, but perhaps in the long run, or c)work out with an aftertaste rich with synchronicity.
the most important element in the job hunt is timing, and you have to be ready to start a job if you are going to seriously look for A job. Not any job, but a NEW job you LOVE.
and that was my plan. i’m a 100% or nothing sort of girl. always have been always will be. I used to think this was my big flaw. i now know it’s my strength.
.... that was 2 weeks ago. i just finished my 1st week as a Communucations Advisor on a web project :)
so that’s it. i went through a dark patch there for about 10 weeks. ouch. ouch. but that’s done now. upward and onward. i’m now able to give 100% to this next phase. sigh….
i can’t wait to blog about it all, now that i can. i wasn’t able to write for a long time.
thanks all you cheerers – i’ll be going through them all at some point soon :)
peace,
kdf
what i could do work wise right now that i would ‘love’...
i think, what i need, is to take some time off. hopefully, november and december and go back to work in january… that way i can work on launching something with my friend A. and get a much needed mental break from all the chaos of the year.
I’m sick of the job I have right now. GROSS.
I’m at it RIGHT NOW.
I have to remember this, so I don’t get stuck in the same role at the next job.
This SUCKS large folks…
It’s prefect – In this field, writing & editing, and permanent. I have to talk to my boss and see if he’ll refer me – my contract is coming up to end date, so I can’t imagine he’ll mind a little referal…
keep those digits crossed please!
I’m still working away at my current contract, but have been looking to fulfill some dreams and really love what I do. I think I may have found a ticket out… I’m going to help with our city mayor election, and backing a candidate who really would be amazing as our mayor. Also turns out, I know him! Who knows…. may turn into something exciting, no?
thought I had updated this… heard from guy who interviewed me. It went well, and he would love me to join the team. Except not in this role, which was filled by someone internally. Thanks GOODNESS. I wasn’t really up for a new job & gteting married all at once.
He then contacted me 2 weeks later to see how things are and let me know that he still wants me on his team!
Timing is everything. My dream: I end this contract in July, take August off and start a brand new job in September completely refreshed :)
i applied for a job on the weekend online and got an e-mail back before noon today – a good sign I would say. I think i answered their questions well, so we’ll see. This could be the toe-hold I need in the development field.
Cross your fingers for me!!
