coffee, anyone?

I love tea, but the caffeine in it doesn’t really have much of an effect on me. I would like to start drinking coffee to see if that gives me more of a boost. I’ve had black coffee and it’s too bitter for me. Any suggestions on making the coffee taste great without adding (too many) calories?? I guess I could just try adding splenda …

bananas, tea, and oxygen

For breakfast, I had a banana and cranberry pomegranate green tea w/half a packet of splenda (TRY IT! it’s so delicious). I didn’t bring anything for lunch, so I will have the extra packet of tea that I did bring = D Bananas do have 105 calories (medium size) and 27 carbs, so I only eat them in the morning. By the end of the day I will have worked off those cals, so it’s justifiable.

I love Tuesday nights – Oxygen channel plays The Bad Girls Club AND Janis Dickinson Modeling Agency. Does anybody else watch those shows? Definitely motivating! One of the girls, Zara, on bad girls club is super skinny … stops those ‘in front of the TV munchies’ from hitting!

RaNdOm

I’m at work – just popping in to say hello over the lunch break!
So far today:
-breakfast: banana + water
-lunch: veggie soup (i’m a vegetarian, so my mom made me soup with carrots, onions, corn, and potatoes in a tomato broth) – I’m avoiding the starchy potatoes + diet coke

Becoming a vegetarian was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Besides the fact that I adore animals and fully believe in animal rights, I find it so easy to turn down food from friends and family. They all assume that because I don’t eat meat that I am an incredibly picky eater – makes things easier! I would like to go vegan and know that I would lose weight cutting out the fatty cheeses/dairy products I find myself too often eating, but I have yet to do that. I’m working on it though!

Untitled

Ok, so I love to read. Here are a few books about ed’s (some are dark, but definitely worthwhile reads and keep me motivated!):
-Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia by: Marya Hornbacher (my personal favorite)
-Stick Figure: Diary of My Former Self by: Lori Gottlieb (also good; about an 11-year old struggling with anorexia/bulimia)
-The Best Little Girl in the World by: Steven Levenkron (written by a doctor who bases his main character, Kessa, on his real-life anorexia patients)

A couple more about ed’s that I haven’t read:
-Second Star to the Right by: Deborah Hautzig
-Hunger Point by: Jillian Medoff (also a Lifetime movie; about a girl who has a very overbearing mother and a sister with anorexia)

enjoy!

calorie king

I’ve posted on here a few times, but haven’t introduced myself yet! Me in a nutshell: I graduated from college last year with a degree in psychology (go figure) and am working/studying for the gre so I can go back to school. My struggle with food has been an ongoing issue, but really hit about 3 years ago during college.
Stats:
5’6”
cw: 123 …
*A lot of people have been asking how many cals are in different foods. This site is A-mazing: www.calorieking.com. Try it! You can search for basically any type of food and find out its nutritional information. You can also search for foods at different restaurants or just store-bought food. I like that you can change the portion size to see how many calories/fat/etc are in smaller/larger amounts of what you eat (or don’t eat). Anyway, hope that helps! Back to ‘work’ ...
