Here’s a shot of the neat spoon my wife gave me with the bottle. The glint in the “eye of enlightenment”, off to the right, is the fairy. Hadn’t noticed till I took the picture.

Used with the modern French ritual last night, which requires a sugar cube. It was a nice mild drink, though I’m unsure of the buzz. Its locus was certainly in a different part of the brain. I’ll have to see if this can be consistently characterized as I consume the bottle.
As someone who’s drunk my fair share of Pernod and Ouzo (especially the Ouzo- a friend is of Greek stock), this was nice. It’s being cut with water per the ritual, so it hits the palate softly.
to try the Absinthe when I’ve installed the new front door. It seems like a worthy rewards for a project that has slowly dragged on. Perhaps Waterfall Nymph will be well enough then to also partake.
from the wife, and a absinthe spoon as well. But I’ve yet made time to try it. We’ve been sick since December 20, and only in the last day or two have felt well.
It seems that when WN heard the NPR piece, she then spent time researching and ordering the Kubler absinthe while the chum had his nap. Yea!
Actually it’s here, and I’ve been reading or hearing about it. NPR had a story about it (link). The San Francisco Chronicle had a story about it (link). And I’m sure those aren’t the only ones.
The US has legalized four sellers, with some legal restrictions. It cannot focus the marketing as Absinthe, but can include Absinthe on the label or some such thing. And no more than 10 part per million of the ingredient thujone.
Who are those lucky enough to sell in the US?
- Kubler (Swiss)
- Lucid (French)
- Absinto Camargo (Brazilian)
- Absinthe Verte (American)
Soon; all too soon.
