may was sad 19 months ago

i did yoga 3 times in may. this month will be better, i’m cutting back my hours at work (down to zero by the end of the month). doing yoga will help me stay calm about the job situation. plus it feels good!



april is over! 20 months ago

i only did yoga 7 times instead of 10 in april. i am ok with that. the goal for may is 8 yoga sessions. today lunchbox & i tried a Wai Lana dvd. it was way too hard, how did she get to be on tv?!

we also tried Yoga for Urban Living last week. the poses & exercises were fun, but the instructions were confusing.

4 days left to do yoga 3 more times! lunchbox keeps saying that he wants to do longer yoga sessions & get into some deep stretches. we’ve been doing 30-45 min dvds that go through:
  • breathing exercises
  • a couple variations of the sun salutations
  • a few standing poses or twists
  • the corpse pose
    & then it’s over.

it’s pretty hard to fit in even 1/2 an hour into our schedules. i don’t know how he plans to do yoga for 90 min. so far getting yoga dvds from the library has been great. i think my shoulders are slowly getting better.

i tried it this morning w/lunchbox & it felt good, but made me sleepy. i requested some yoga dvds from the library online & am fighting the urge to buy an ‘A.M.’ yoga dvd.

i’m doing 7-8 of these in the morning. it’s not much but i can hear my shoulder muscles clicking – so something must be happening? my shoulders are totally messed up from sitting in front of the computer all day.

goals:
  1. be more flexible in general
  2. be able to sit with my legs straight out in front of me without bending my knees (it’s like my hamstrings are made out of steel!)
  3. reduce shoulder pain/be less tense
  4. have better posture


20 min yoga makeover - flat abs 2 years ago

this has sara ivanhoe in it, she’s kinda weird & too chipper. also, 20 min is convenient, but it doesn’t feel like much more than a warm-up.

maybe i should give up on yoga dvds & go to a class.



lunar flow 2 years ago

i did yoga before work (it helps that they don’t care what time i get in)! at first it made me want to go back to sleep, but i feel pretty good now.

i got ‘lunar flow yoga’ from the library. the library is so great. i wish i had checked some out before randomly buying dvds.

i’m not sure about lunar flow yet, the breathing rhythm seems off (or maybe i can’t breathe slowly enough yet). and the title sounds so… um. menstrual. but the dvd does let you mix & match different yoga moves to create your own session which is neat.

i practiced at home & followed a dvd. or 30 min of it. my hamstrings are really tight & i’m always bending my knees. i especially don’t like doing the sitting poses b/c of it.

they have free yoga classes in bryant park! maybe the weather will be better next week.
