week 6  — 2 months ago

everything’s been crazy. i did nothing on the list, but i walked all over the place last week. this week i have done nothing except by two new yoga dvds. one night, lunchbox declared, ‘i have to get in shape for myself!’ and went out for a run without me. it hasn’t happened again, although there have been threats. tomorrow lunchbox, niceguy & i are going to run in the park.

i will try harder week. i’ve been eating a bit better.

to do
  • make appt to see dentist & doctor
  • do yoga

week 5  — 2 months ago

has it really been 5 weeks? this is off to a long, slow start. but i have stopped gaining weight! and i am making better food choices more often. and i haven’t smoked for the last two weeks [except for one]!

last week was busy, i only did sit-ups & push-ups twice. no yoga. a lot of eating. i have been walking more though, instead of taking the subway.

to do:
  • walk more, do sit-ups & pushups, do yoga twice
  • eat healthy snacks at work (and only when hungry! daydream when bored instead of eating!)
  • schedule exercise into calendar for the next month (starting next week)
  • make an appt for the dentist & the doctor

weight: 139.8, 25% body fat
avg steps: 9,500 (new record!)

week 4 :(  — 2 months ago

my weight went back up! ugh. maybe i shouldn’t bother recording my weight, it’s not that important, is it? um. ok i ate a lot of crap this week, i forgot my lunch, i broke the vending machine rule, i didn’t exercise or do anything else on my list… but! i didn’t smoke at all, so i’ll be able to start running again.

the chain restaurants in nyc are displaying calorie information – have you seen it? i went to starbucks yesterday, it was huge surprise to see how many calories are in the snacks. i expected the espresso brownie to have more calories than a snicker’s bar, but i didn’t expect the iced lemon loaf to have more calories than the brownie. the fruit & yogurt also had a lot of calories.

i suppose size & portion does matter.

also i went clothes shopping yesterday & it was sad. i still wear about the same size in clothes but i look pretty soft.

to do:
  • stay away from the vending machine! keep walking.
  • do 50 situps & 10 pushups in the morning
  • about take out/delivery… stop eating all of it! put at least half of it in the fridge before serving. better yet, go to the supermarket more frequently.

week 3  — 2 months ago

weight: 137.2

i averaged over 9,300 steps a day last week! (this is partly b/c lunchbox & i walked for over an hour in search for ice cream :) ) i continued to stay away from the vending machine. the one time i was going to cave, i didn’t have any coins or singles on me. as for the office party, i didn’t have too many sweets. when i went back for more, i got fruit=* instead.

um. so i am happy that i’ve stopped gaining weight. i need to exercise more to be in shape tho -

to do:
  • keep up with vending machine ban & walking 8000 steps
  • do yoga 3 times this week
  • do 50 situps & 10 half-pushups on non-yoga days

=* i helped organize the [earth day] office party & 1/2 the snacks were fruit. we had bananas, tangerines, grapes & strawberries, b/c they are easy to eat w/o much prep work. the organic strawberries were amazing & the fruit was gone before the cookies & cupcakes were. i think ppl were really happy to have a healthy option at the office party.

week 2  — 3 months ago

weight: 139.8

last week: i couldn’t go running this weekend. but i did avoid the candy & chips in the vending machine! and i averaged 7900 steps per day last week.

to do
  • walk 8000 steps a day
  • walk around the block to a deli instead of going to the vending machine
  • do not go back for second helpings of cake at the upcoming parties. and don’t stand next to the snack table while talking to ppl either.

i weigh 141.6 lbs, most of it is not muscle.

i used to be one of those ppl who could eat anything & not gain weight. so i have no impulse control when it comes to food.

the vending machine at work is my best friend.

lunchbox & i went running for a bit on sunday. i thought i was out of shape last year when i tried to run for a couple weeks. this run was way more embarrassing. trying on old pants was even more embarrassing.

to do
  • find new running route that isn’t right by the highway
  • leave the office & walk around the block to a deli if i really really need to buy a snack
  • walk 8000 steps a day this week
