the band’s playing a show tomorrow. i’ve been practicing these songs for months now, i have them memorized, they’re not very difficult. but sometimes i blank out in practice.
i was talking to my dad about it—i said, ‘remember that time i forgot all 3 of my pieces at the piano competition?’
he started laughing & said, ‘yeah, maybe you should take up painting instead.’ he was so pleased with himself that he continued to explain his joke between laughs. at great length.
we’ll see if he laughs when i find out i have a serious brain disease. i will never forget this!
so i’ve got the notes to the songs written down on index cards that’re taped to my keyboard. and then to see the cards i hafta tape a small booklight onto my keyboard as well. it’s so sad. the lead singer gives me looks like, ‘this is not appropriate rockstar behavior.’ maybe if i stare at the cards for the entire 2 1/2 hr busride tomorrow, i won’t need them for the show.
don’t look at the photo illustration.
the article says that aerobic activity promotes neuron growth, which prevents your hippocampus from shrinking. which is good b/c:
“If your hippocampus is damaged, you most likely have trouble learning facts and forming new memories.”
i guess yoga isn’t gonna cut it. i should go running. the brain needs blood!
