For the last few months, I’ve gotten to enjoy an hour with my youngest daughter (age almost 2) in the middle of the day a couple of times a week, while my wife goes to a noon class. It’s been a lot of fun, and a good excuse to get out of the office instead of my usual habit of working through lunch :D

I went to Salt Lake with my daughter again. She always enjoys these trips.
There’s a fountain at the Gateway that’s a fairly popular spot for kids to play and cool off in the summer.
I had another great bus ride with my daughter on Saturday. I keep feeling like I need to find something to do with my other little girl, though, and she’s too young to enjoy a 6 hour trip. Since the weather’s nice, maybe we should go to the park.
One of my four-year-old daughter’s favorite activities is to “go on the bus and the train” with me, by which she means that we ride the bus and the light rail into downtown Salt Lake, hang around for a while, and then ride back. There are probably several reasons why she thinks this is fun—kids tend to enjoy bus rides anyway, this trip often includes lunch at McDonalds and an ice cream cone, and there’s usually a stop at a bookstore, the library or the kids’ play area at the Apple store. But I think the biggest reason is that she gets six or seven hours of pretty much undivided attention from her dad.
I need to find more ways to spend time with my kids :)
