switch to reusable grocery bags

I got three great big bags from Costco, and I have tow or three smaller bags- but I still end up coming home from the store with plastic. This morning I went to Safeway, without a reusable bag. On the way in, I thought to myself that when the cashier asked if I wanted paper or plastic, I would say neither- I just bought a box of bran cereal and 4 packs of gum (quit smoking today)... but, the cashier didn’t ask, he just handed me my plastic bag.

The hard part is remembering to get them in to the store! I haven’t managed to do that yet. The closest I have come is just forgoing the bag altogether if I only buy one or two things.

I cut about 4 inches off the bottom of the bag, now it is pretty good.

Well, I did it… and it is long! I knew I wanted a tall bag, but I may have may this one too long.

In any case, here it is, with a large box of bisquik and a loaf of bread in it for perspective.

And as an added bonus, I now am the proud owner of a scandalously short pair of khaki cutoffs.

No pattern, no ideas…
If I fail to make a satisfactory grocery tote, I will see how else I can re-purpose those pants.
They were good pants.
