enjoy the first quarter of 2008 by having one new and fulfilling experience in January, February, and March

I almost decided not to add this entry, but thought why not? Let me just start by saying that I was never the “other woman.” My SO’s divorce is final! It was final in his mind when we met, but I still felt a little twinge of shame. As I said, I was not the other woman…there was no other woman, but I guess I needed to know he was not some other person’s property. Yep, I am old fashioned in a sense, and could not hold my head up high in the community. No one judged me or him, but I did in my heart. Now, I don’t have to have those awful feelings. It is fulfilling to feel clean about our relationship.

I just got two birthday cards in the post. One from my little sister, Joyce. The other from her daughter, my niece. My niece is 19, but is mentally retarded, so she is really only about three mentally. What was so special about her card was that my niece signed them. I could tell that my sister was holding her hand, guiding her to make the correct shape choices. I nearly cried. This realization made me think of my little sister in a new light. She is a wonderful mother, and a great sister. What a nice feeling to know that.

Last Friday, my sweetie took me to see an Alfred Hitchcock film at this lovely old restored theatre in Stanford. (CA) The place was just beautiful, and get this, there was a real organ player who surfaced from the orchestra pit during intermission. That was a fulfilling evening for both of us.

Oh people! My boyfriend took me out to a Jill Scott concert last night in Oakland. This is not new, as I have seen Jill in concert twice before. It was darned fulfilling though! Yes, I am a hard core fan, but the experience was made extra special because my boyfriend came along even though he had never heard of Jill Scott before. Upon telling him of my enthusiasm about this vocalist, he replied, “Who is Jill Scott?” LOL

Let’s see. I hosted my first New Year’s Day Brunch with my boyfriend. Although none of my friends could attend (cause they are all in Europe) I was quite happy to see the joy of my SO’s face. All of his friends came out and enjoyed themselves. We also had our first fight, which nearly tore us apart. Luckily, that didn’t happen. He is really important to me, and I need to keep that in mind. I went to MAC WORLD EXPO!!!!! Saw the Steve Jobs Keynote in person this time, instead of drooling from afar. We finished reading Candide, and now reading Aphrodite. Great read so far!!!! Making progress with After Effects CS3, but Flash is killing me. The best part about this past month was knowing how it feels to love someone.

Since you are the ring leader of this group, tell me…if I had an old Apple Ipod (5th gen, no video) in good condition…how would I go about giving it to someone on the group? Just a thought. Someone out there might want it.

For me, part of growing up is understanding that relationships morph, stretch, spin, and shatter. I used to get freaked out or sabotage my relationships in order to avoid getting hurt. Stupid, yes. Knowing it is stupid puts me in big girl clothes. Had a wonderful Christmas with new friends and my lover’s grown sons. There was food for all, wonderful gifts, and the best part was seeing joy on his face. I will remember this December for the rest of my days. Thank you God!

Well, let’s see if I will have the courage to do the work I want to do…and get paid for it!
