Give blood

So let me just start by saying I hate needles, shots in particular. Oddly enough though, I have quite a few piercings. So the first time I had the opportunity to give blood, I pumped myself up and decided I was going to do it. I went to the blood drive at my school, totally prepared. However, the checklist of circumstances that made you ineligible to donate included receiving a piercing somewhere other than your ears in the past 12 months. Eleven months earlier I had gotten my belly button pierced, so as they turned me away, all the effort I had put forth convincing myself to give blood went completely to waste. At that point it became a life goal for me to do it. I wanted to push myself to do something that is not necessarily comfortable.
Yesterday I had the opportunity once again. I got a piercing on my ear a few weeks back, but remembering that ear piercings were not a problem during my last blood giving attempt, I wasn’t too worried. Apparently, though, for this particular organization, ear piercings were problematic. So once again I was turned away.
So the fact that I have failed twice in a row is a sign that I should really just stop trying, or that I need to get my ass in gear and get it done. I’m working off the latter explanation, so one of these days, its gonna happen….hopefully.
