I just read a book by John T. Reed about success. Mr. Reed observantly points out that one can never be more honest than their boss. This continues up the management chain since your boss can never be more honest than his boss. In other words, working for somebody, our morals are always going to be compromised eventually.
I think long-term, I know deep down that I am going to have to get out on my own. My struggle now is dealing with the fear of getting away from that “steady” paycheck (which we all know can be very un-reliable). Also, I don’t know what I can do that can support or at least get close to providing our current (or improved) standard of living.
I’m gonna read some books on the subject and try to eliminate some of the possibilities that cannot provide this. Call it a “mid-career crisis”.
