tell my mother to butt out

This is a tough one. I think every daughter goes through this. My mother loves me and only wants the best for me but teh best that she wants is her best not my best. So on the one hand she’s very supportive and on the other she’s undermining every thing I do. I must admit though, that at this stage of my life, I am hanging on to her as much as she is to me. Habit I guess. Don’t know what I fear will happen if I ignore her – will she stop loving me? No. Will I cause her great pain? Probably. Has she caused me great pain? Definitely! Maybe if I make this break we can both move on and that’s bound to be good for a future relationship….n’est-ce pas?
