I have been practicing salsa dance for quite a while now, normally twice a week: Thursday in a local club and Sunday in a dance school. It’s a challenge to go to these classes alone. First of all, it’s intimidating to see all other people with their friends. You feel like “oh, what’s wrong with me? I don’t have friends..” The club presents an even more daunting challenge since each class is almost like a pageant race. All the women dress so beautifully. No matter how good you feel at home; you feel that your light is dimmed among all the dazzling stars.. I wished that there were a crack in the floor so that I could disppear from the crowd when nobody invited me to dance and the teacher had to announce for a volunteer to dance with me.. It’s so humiliating.. But I love the dance and I won’t give up until I become the most shiny star in the ballroom!
