About a year ago I had a gallstone. Worst. Thing. EVER. Totally painful. My doctor showed it to me via ultrasound and seeing my poor gallbladder with this little rock in it that may or may not ever move again was kinda cool and disturbing at the same time. I opted to not have surgery and risk having another “attack” (good call since it’s been YEARS now with ‘nary a peep!)
To be nice, my roommate made me a small felt gallbladder. Sounds silly, but the felt gallbladder gave me a little thing to visualize and to focus my good wishes for my actual gallbladder. I think it was inspired by stories of people who reduced cancer tumors by playing a mental game of Asteroids with them or who healed themselves with meditation or something – those oddball amazing stories that pop up on Yahoo headlines randomly. We’ve all read at least one.
So.
My step dad is having serious heart problems and is scheduled for surgery this week. When he starts his recovery, he’ll have a petite felt heart to focus his good thoughts on and I really hope that helps his actual one heal.
