Report: 30.5.2011 - unorthodox training

Woke up in the dark; little fish
was up so I brought her along for
a fitness test:

Up early 10K
with neighbour
in the dark rain.

Cold, wet and
three P platers
burning out and
sliding around
the round-a-bout
in their crappy
cars.

We stepped off
the road just in
case one of them
lost control and
went off the road.

Didn’t get to see
the planets lined
up because it’s
overcast and raining.

Registered for the You-Yangs 50/50

I’m running the 50K – there’s a
10 hour cut-off for the 50 miler.

I don’t know if I can run 50 miles
in 10 hours. We’ll see how the 50K
goes.

It should be way easier than the
Orcas 50K and its exhausting 7000’
of elevation gain.

Report: 20-something April, 2010

Running 8/10/15km 6 days a
week.

Trying something different
(this is especially difficult for me)
which consists of maintaining
123-134 HR regardless of terrain.

Stretching about 20-30 minutes a
day too which I really suck at
but which I’m incorporating into my
morning yoga routine which is
really just about decompressing my
lumbar region. This paragraph has
a lot of whichs.

Also, I’m back to taking cold
showers which has helped me lose
3 kg within 10 days. A cold shower in
the morning jump starts, well, just
about everything but especially
one’s metabolism.

200 crunches
200 push ups

20km TT bike @ 80%

First day of training
for the 50 miler.

I ran 1 mile and got
a coffee.

There was a sad-looking
organ on the side of
the road.

I stopped to inspect
it.

Cavalier 9000 SR X

It sounded like a
car for a playboy
instead of a cheap
organ with old-school
Star Trek Enterprise
bridge control buttons.

I felt that I should
drag it into the
bushes and bury it
in a hand-dug grave
whilst whistling a
Bach toccata.
