gettin back on track 11 months ago

I feel like I fell off the wagon a bit with this one. But over the last week or so I’ve started getting myself back on track. I’m cooking again and healthier than before. Planning ahead of time. Packing my lunches again & shopping smarter. It will become natural again!

I’ve been doing good on this goal I felt myself wanting to totally fall off the “good” wagon. I wanted to throw myself into a huge bowl of ice cream topped with salty plain lays and a huge pepsi. I’ve NOT exactly sworn these items off but I’ve learned to sway myself into other things instead of these NOT so healthy snacks. But today I allowed myself to have a bad day. I received several comments from friends both here and on spark telling me not to be so down on myself for it and to just get back on track tomorrow. 1 bad day wont kill you…which I know is true. So I allowed myself to have a slice of guilt free pizza…as well as a can of pepsi and lemme tell you…IT WAS GOOD! lol and oddly enough right after eating it I felt good. My urge to cheat big was gone. I was happy enough with what I gave myself. I also continued to log my food in my spark page and I didn’t go over my allowed calories as bad as I thought. I was pretty proud of myself either way. Tomorrow though…it’s back to being good :)

I think 14 months ago

I’m getting closer to marking this goal off my list. I’ve taken to my food diary and have been religious about logging every bit of food I eat. I’m pretty sure I’m looking nuts at the computer every day with food labels in my hand haha but I can very proudly say that in 5 days I’ve actually changed so much about my normal eating habits and it’s paying off. Im dropping pounds feeling great and saving money. I love it…I can eyeball a 3oz salmon steak and cut it perfectly. I can eye ball 1/2 cup & 1/4 servings of things hehe I’m surprised its become second nature.

I haven’t had a single drop of soda either since…MONDAY!! Almost a week…and I’m not even craving it. I’ll keep the goal on here for another couple of weeks…Ill continue my food diary as I haven’t completed my goal weight yet..but I definitely think I have this goal down!

I'm so proud of myself 14 months ago

I’ve gone OUT of my way to create a whole meal planner for about 2 weeks worth of meals breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with some snacks and desserts. I bought those “green bags” to help keep fresh produce longer…I made 2 different trips to 2 different stores and We are stocked top to bottom with healthy stuff :) I’ve been cooking every day when I get home from work all meals carefully planned out with veggies included and healthy snacks! Hubs is loving it…he’s getting new meals almost daily I’ve made at least 5 or 6 NEW dishes within the last week it’s been awesome. The kids are enjoying some stuff too :) not as much but yeah they are sampling which is better than not trying at all!

I'm on a roll 15 months ago

creating new recipes using a nutrition calculator. you enter the ingredients in your dish, and it breaks it down for you. I love it! I know everything thats going into my body from calories, fats, proteins, carbs, & fiber…I’ve been getting up just a little bit earlier to prepare my lunches and I’m planning out my dinners according to the fruits & veggies I have in my fridge :) I’m feeling awesome too!

Off and on 15 months ago

That’s how I am with this goal…I try though. Even if I do eat a cupcake or two here and there I make sure that I get in SOME fruits and veggies a day. I’ve been doing great at preparing dinner lately :) veggies EVERY night! I didn’t pack too many in my lunch today but it was a good lite lunch salad fruit dry cereal and 3 bottles of water NO SODA at work at all today. I calculated $18 dollar savings a month if I stopped buying soda at work. Especially since I can’t even finish the hole can. I think instead Ill start a jar & toss the 75 cents it cost for a soda in there and see what else I can use the funds for.

$25 gift certificate :) 15 months ago

I won this today…at work I’m taking part in a 10 week wellness challenge. We have to keep track of the amounts of fruits and veggies we eat on a daily basis as well as our activity/exercise…at the end of the week we submit our cards & start a new one. Well today my name and cards were pulled from the bin and I won a gift certificate :) So I’m pretty excited. I am doing something good for myself by eating healthier and trying to be more active and I was rewarded for it in more ways than one :)

I’ve been doing pretty well on this note. I’ve been eating a lot of salmon…and a lot of whole wheat coos coos instead of rice or potatoes I’ve been getting my veggies in and packing super healthy lunches.

I’ve created 2 new recipes as well. A lentil soup with brown rice, spinach, carrots, and sliced meat. It was SO freaking good. I slow cooked up a crock pot full and packaged it up for the following week. I had a co-worker try it and she loved it.

I also created a chocolate zucchini muffins made with whole wheat flour apple sauce instead of oil egg white instead of eggs and Oh lord was it goo :P It had 2 full cups of shredded zucchini in it. The kids loved it too Im very excited about both recipes being such a hit!

Farmers Market 18 months ago

WOw! I still can’t get over the savings I am getting by going to Farmers Market for my fruits and veggies. Not only am I getting FRESH produce but I’m getting ORGANIC fresh produce thats LOCALLY grown. I almost think it tastes better to me that way. I got summer squash, zucchini, green onions, 3 big bunches of asparagus, carrots, walnuts all for $1 and $2 the most I spent was $4 for a 1 pound bag of fresh walnuts.

I’m planning my meals in advance, before I go grocery shopping. I also purchased all sorts of new tupperware in different snack sizes to help me to prepare my meals daily for lunch. I find thats where I’ve been struggling with this goal lately. I’m getting back on track today…I said I’d wait til Tuesday since today was a holiday..but I’m gonna work on today!
