I cant believe how few people are doing this. Maybe theres another goal similar?
Anyway, I’ve gotten our recycling sorted out finally, I could never remember what we were allowed to put in which bins on the street, but I now have a list next to the bin in our flat – we cant recycle glass or plastic bags on our street, so those will have to be taken further afield in the car. Of course, the plastic bags are reused lots first too.

I almost always refuse a carrier bag now, and i refill my 1.5L plastic bottle with tap water instead of buying a new one every day. Bottled water has got to be one of the worst everyday things for the environment – firstly the plastic, which usually just gets dumped, second it gets filled with water and then transported wherever its needed, which may be by plane, and is stored in fridges using up electricity, all when a high proportion of people who buy it have free and constant access to clean safe tap water!! Its shocking!

I try to reuse as much as i can, and recycle glass and alu (thats all you can recycle in shetland, appart from things like furniture etc). And I try not to use much electricity, and use the bus rather than going in a car with only 2 people as much as is pracical.
