does not seem to be an easy thing for non-residents! The hassles with red-tape with registering and insuring a car become quite complicated when you’re a foreigner.
I was originally wanting to spend about 3 months driving around the US but I’m thinking I’ll cut it down to about a month and just rent a car to do the road-trips that I really want to do. Other than that, I’d like to spend at least a week in NY City and about the same in San Fran.

I got a copy of the USA lonely planet for my birthday. I can’t get over the enormity of the country. Australia is a similar area of land, but 95% of it is desert wastelands… really amazing to see, but you only need to see 5% of the desert to see enough. North America on the other hand… dozens of major cities, massive diversity of landscapes… more than I can possibly see with a 2 month tourist visa. I guess I’ll have to visit a couple of times.
