hautbois is doing 10 things including…

work because I like to, not because I have to

hautbois has written 2 entries about this goal

I see I didn't really explain this goal before

First, I need to get a job (see “get a job”) to tide me over for a bit. But I would eventually like to get a job in a field I enjoy and am qualified for.

Brainstorming some possibilities:
-some “backstage”, administrative or front-of-house career in music (might eventually have a BMus degree, have worked as an usher in Edinburgh and Kingston)
-theatre (dedicated QMT volunteer: ASM, follow spot, band, photography, website, administrative committee)
-special needs (have worked at Camp Towhee)
-computers
-historical interpretation or museum guiding (have worked at Fort Henry in Kingston and Camera Obscura in Edinburgh)
-work with children (camp, have volunteered for Girl Guides, led school groups at Fort Henry and Camera Obscura)
-know a lot of folk/campfire songs, some experience leading them, been in many choirs (leading to… what? community choir?)

As I mentioned under “get a job”, I’m working at Camp Towhee again. I seem to be good at working with people with special needs, so that may be a possible career area.

Related to the above: I’m going to be volunteering at the H’Art School of Smiles (slightly irritating new name but with a great reputation), an arts school and drop-in centre for adults with intellectual disabilities. That is, I’ll begin volunteering once my Criminal Record Check goes through. This should tie in nicely with my interests in both the arts and special needs. Unfortunately, their music and theatre activities don’t really start until after I’m at Towhee.

Incidentally, the H’Art volunteer work may help with my routine goals too.
