No question that sidekicks are cool. Every hero needs one. The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Roy Rogers and Gabby Hayes. Batman and Robin. The Tick and Arthur. Zoneman and Talus. The question is whether to have a sidekick or to be a sidekick.
Hmmm. Maybe I waited too late, maybe at my age I’m automatically relegated to sidekick status. But that’s ok. I’m thinking of a Gabby Hayes kinda character…goofy and salty all at once. Instead of being the fast-draw hero, I’ll be the shotgun totin’ jackass leadin’ posse gettin’ squinty-eyed sidekick…
Yeah.
It is the sidekick who gets the girl in the end, right?
