Snickerdoodle left town today, bound for Phoenix. We really hit it off. He was a little shy at first, but eventually he opened right up and spilled his guts. (Just a metaphor, Flirt!, no need for your smelling salts.) When I told him he would be leaving today, we has a little disappointed to miss the stagecoach robbery scheduled for tomorrow, but I mentioned hippiechick has a surprise for him, and pow! he practically packed himself. He remembered to take a lunch, and even thought to grab a newspaper so he’d have something to read on the way. I was going to ship him parel post, but when the postal clerk asked, he interrupted and hollered out, “Priority Mail, please!” You shoulda seen the clerk’s face when she heard his voice coming out of that box. heh.

MacBear likes hanging out around the house. He especially likes sitting on the front porch, watching the world go by.
I’m sure you’re all familiar with R2D2, the little droid whose exploits are chronicled in the Star Wars movies. R2 was first manufactured a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, where he had his adventures as a young droid. He answered George Lucas’ casting call back in the ‘70s and became a pretty well-known star. Read the comments under this entry to see how our feckless lad met up with the famous droid!
We had a close call over the weekend. Just down the street there is an animal sanctuary for retired movie animals and zoo attractions. They come here to live out their golden years. Well, I guess ol’ Snicks’ curiosity got the best of him, and he tried to make an unannounced visit (see the gate, where he bent a bar trying to get in?). I had to physically restrain the lad, and explain to him that the animals here value their privacy. Snicks was disappointed he didn’t get to visit with any elephants (or bears), but he was happy to have his picture taken all the same.
Snickerdoodle has been going to work with me. He enjoys our daily commute because it takes us across a lot of ranch land. Here is Snicks checking out the Dutra Ranch.
You will, I trust, be pleased to know that our ursine friend, Mr. Snickerdoodle R. MacBear, has survived his most recent adventure with Princess Squirrel Hunter and her jolly band, and is now in transit to the Hawkmeister Estates and Bear Country Jamboree. Snicker got to ride in the truck from the restaurant where SH and Hawk met back to Hawk’s office, where Snicks was immediately put to work on a research project (see photo). Those of the Kansas persuasion will be relieved to learn that ‘cause he’s a first class guest worker, Snicks got to ride in the cab and not in the truck bed. Forgive this photo, please, taken with a crummy phone cam, I’ll upload real photos later.
We (somebody, not me, I really am awfully busy with moving) should set up a Flickr page for Snicks. (Sorry, I’m from California where everybody gets nicknamed.) Let’s chronicle his adventures in pictures.
