Learn how to remember peoples' names

I’m really bad at this and it’s not just that I can’t remember people’s names but a lot of the time I can’t remember if I’ve even met someone before! My husband and I have a routine now when we go to parties so that he’ll go up to someone and say “Hi George have you met my wife?” That way I know their name and whether I’ve met them before. At work functions I’ve resorted to getting an understanding colleague to whisper in my ear what the person’s name is. The weird thing is that I’ve got a really good memory for everything else. It’s like a black hole in my brain!
