that I must write a script in order to sell one.
I’m working on an adaptation right now. On one hand, this seems like it’d be easier since a lot of the work is done for you already.
On the other hand, there are some tricky aspects:
- the feeling of responsibility to the author and the already existing story—you don’t want to mess up a good thing
- figuring out if an aspect of a book or story that works fantastically in another medium works in a film version
- adjusting the aspects that don’t work
It feels much more surgical, which is nice in some ways and difficult in some ways.
BUT I got a lot of work done today, figuring where I have to add and where I have to delete. Satisfying to have a good writing day.
