List bits and pieces of conversations I overhear

a few weeks ago,
The scene was me punching in the houses gate code so I could actually go to the house and deliver the package.
(A few months ago the current owners purchased the property
it was for sale for years)
I drove to the house and put the box up on the porch.
As I was walking up to the porch I noticed the man coming out of the shop at the rear of the house, he circles around my truck and was there when I came back to the vehicle…
Him “How did you get in here?”
Me ” I know the gate code.”
Him Indignantly “Really?”
Me “Yes, If you are to order merchandise,
I have to be able to deliver it
If I can’t get to your house, you’re out of luck.
I can’t leave stuff at the gate.”
him glaring at me
Me “If you change your gate code and don’t tell me, remember what we talked about.”

of the next few entries will be about
conversations,
events and observations while working.

Going to the same High School
within 2 years of each other does not make familiars
of people at the institution at that plane in time.
.
And then years later, end up working at the same company
doing the same jobs
.
And during those first years
turning to decades
we barely communicated
different centers of operation
and other areas of the same building
.
a grand total of letters of the alphabet
may have passed between us
on communication
during those years
.
As time went on
We may have began to know each other a bit
better
.
The last few 6 whatever
years,
your route has been next to mine
and we have shared friendship
secrets
a some time every workday
during the lunch breaks we shared
when you could come over and meet
.
You’re the lucky one
you started years sooner than I did
and August 29th
was your last day
retired with 30 years of
driving
delivery
service and hard work
tendered
.
I miss our time
shared when
our time planes crossed
.
For even though we shared
common areas
during many years
and decades
we only talked those last
6 or 7 years
and I’m grateful I was able to actually
Know you
after all this time…
.
I could write
a ton here
but it would bore you to sleep
.
But it turns out
you live just miles from me
and with your number
I can keep in touch
.
_And I better…he told me he didn’t
know how long he’d live after retirement
He has been the exception to the rule you see
never married…no kids ever
He had his heart broken, you see?
at age 22 or so
and could never settle down
He saved his money and can live comfortably
but he is a drinker
and can drink me under the table quickly
(I know and I’ve seen)
I love him as a brother
and along with his bad diet
he may be right
so I will make an effort to
keep in touch and remain a friend

“I can’t believe the American people are so stupid as to want to elect a terrorist to be their next president”

“A lot of people don’t like the President we have now”

“Idiots shouldn’t be allowed to vote, if he wins I’m going to kill some people”

“So are you going to make sure you don’t kill Republicans?”

This little conversation was unpleasant on lots of levels…I would have pointed out to him no one killed anyone when the man he supports was elected 8 years ago for starters…although there was no shortage of people talking about it…even on this site there are tons of goals talking about violence against him…

because I was involved in it…

Me “Mom, I think you should have your hearing tested…I don’t think you are hearing nearly as well as you should”...

Mom “What?”

Me “You need to call Kaiser and see if they cover a hearing test for you…I believe your hearing has become a problem”

Mom “I hear you fine”

Me “In the last year, I have noticed you miss much of the conversation going on when I am around you…and you couldn’t hear me at all when I was talking to you on Dirk’s cell phone”

Mom “What?”

^{And so it continued for about 5 minutes…every time we are together the whats become more frequent…I had to repeat myself about 15 times today…and those that have met me know I do not talk softly at all}...

“Cosmopolitan magazine very inappropriate…please remove NOW!...”

I would have to disagree…what I like to do is not buy or read things I don’t like…but not get it removed so others who may enjoy it can’t…one other point…I read the issues that talk about where to meet men…and then go there and wait….

in an office…during political discussion…

“Well, first you have Hillary…and then probably some black guy with no experience and a Muslim name as her Vice President running mate…I have no idea who would vote for them unless it was to vote against the others”

Can you see how much fun this will be?...

I tune in when I can…sometimes I shake my head from what I hear…or have to stifle laughter…
