2011 has been great. I had a personal goal to have at least one trip every month! I did it. Alltogether: 21 trips per year around Europe and Asia.
I just love traveling.

I just love traveling.
Started the year 2010 with a little Euro-trip by car. The target was Czech Republic and Prague. In addition, I drove through Poland, Austria and Slovakia as well.
I love Czech Republic and will plan another trip there. There is everything and more – the landscape (I just awwed throughout the whole trip, whenever there was another mountain, another picturesque town, another curvy road, another foggy view, another … you name it), the beer (cheap, cheap, cheap and tasty. did i mention cheap?), the food, the architexture, the people.
I avoided the freeways, just to see more the local villages and life in there. Yes, the roads could be in better shape in Czech republic – plenty of holes and pumps and my poor little sports car found them all. And the second thing to grumble about is the sightseeing sign system – theres none! I did my homework and knew where to go and what to look for, but I just couldn´t find the caves or the funiculars etc. Im really unhappy about that, but that means I will go again to find them :)
And then there was Prague … Where to begin to describe this fairytale?
After driving all the possible roads in Czech Republic, I headed to Vienna in Austria. Well, after seeing Prague, Vienna looked dull and just ordinary. Lovely and beautiful ofcourse, but not as much as Prague.
Since Slovakias capital Bratislava was just around the corner from Vienna, it was my next destination. Well, seeing the movie “Eurotrip” and the humour in there, I must say – thats not what you will find in Bratislava :) A nickle will not make you a king :)
But Bratislava was fun I must say, even more than Vienna.
Poland was something I couldn´t skip on my trip – it was just all over my way. So I drove through and can admit that I saw a lot of it. I was stunned that there were traffic jams in Warssaw 5 o clock in the morning as well as 12 o clock at night etc. Traffic jams 24/7. How will they ever get home after workday?
All in all – it was a perfect trip. The hostel where me and my friends were staying at my birthday (which was during the trip) in Prague, gave me a bottle of Czech champagne!!! How cool is that??
Year 2009 is been difficult economically, not very many trips for me. However, I visited 2 new countries (new as I had not visited it before) – Belgium and at the end of the year – Denmark.
I loved Copenhagen, really nice and clean city. The Tivoli is something extraordinary. It was all lit up with thousand of christmas lights, the feeling was magical.
I defenetly want to go back one day.
This year (2009) I’ve visited Belgium twice and once Latvia.
I love Bruxelles – it’s beautiful – old meets new. And those Belgium waffels and chocolate… mmm… could eat endlessly!
What I really love about Bruxelles, is that there’s so many parks and green areas in the city. And those noisy lovely parrots in the parks flying around.
“Party-breakers” for me are the totally confusing metrostations without any understandable sign-system and the rain. It can be truly sunny and warm night one day and rainy the next. Must bring umbrella with me next time!
So my great trip to the US was wonderful!! I went to Miami, Florida; to NY and to LA, California.
I had never been to US before, so it was great experience for me. People are nice, cars are American :P and shopping is cheap. I saw all the must-see-places, ate local food and walked around a lot. I liked the wild nature as well – the Everglades with the alligators (fortunately didn’t meet any of them personally, neither any of the snakes, spiders nor mountain lions); the Californian canyons, the two oceans that are so different from each other. I saw the iguanas in Miami running wild, the squirrels and raquuns in NY Central park and the pelicans and sea lions in California. Awesome!
These three cities are so big and so different from each other. Loved the Halloween decorations everywhere, but isn’t it too early for the Christmas decorations? They were everywhere as well…
I had flight changes in Berlin and in London, so lots of free time in these cities too.
Overall, best trip ever!
Next trip – Stockholm in Sweden at the end of November :) That’ll be the last one this year (probably, but you’ll never know), alltogether, I’ve had 13 bigger and smaller trips this year outside my own country.
I try to have 3-4 trips (to the countries I’ve never been before) a year and also 3-4 smaller trips to neighbour-countries as well. In 6 weeks I’ll visit USA, can’t wait. It’s my 8 trip this year :)
