encourage and support my son in earning his Eagle Scout rank

He earned his Star rank in March. :) On track!

This summer, W. has attained First Class rank, been elected patrol leader, earned 6 merit badges (with three more in the works) – four of those being Eagle requirements.

We gave up on working towards the Hiking badge while we were at Lassen – the two-mile hikes to Bumpass Hell and up and down Cinder Cone were strenuous enough, without trying to find a ten-mile hike that was doable! But we had fun, and that was the only goal that really counted during vacation.

And W. has just completed more than 100 hours of volunteer service, which means he will meet his goal of earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold).
