blanket update  — 1 week ago

I went to get more of the same yarn, and there wasn’t any more of the same. So, I got some in a different color, and I will ‘bookend’ the cream color with variegated green. I think it’ll be pretty.

I also bought some baby blue variegated thin yarn and white of the same, so I can make some newborn afghans.

I’m probably about 33% of the way done with the first blanket. I’ll need to buy another variegated green, I’m guessing.

Project Linus update  — 2 weeks ago

I am about 30% of the way done now. I’ll probably do some more tonight. I’m almost positive I’ll only need one more skein, too.

blanket update  — 4 weeks ago

now I am about 1/5 of the way done.

Project Linus update  — 4 weeks ago

I am about 1/6 of the way done already. It is so pretty. I love that yarn! I wish I could know the joy that it brings to someone. I’ll just have to trust that I’m making a difference. My goal is to have it finished and submitted by the end of summer so that someone can get it before the cold weather hits- this blankie is sure to keep some child warm.

Good news! Project Linus update  — 4 weeks ago

I found out from my coordinator that this yarn will work! So, I have several rows finished, and it is big… it’ll be great for a toddler or even a young child. I hope I don’t need to buy more yarn because it might be hard to find it again. We shall see…

Oh bummer!!  — 1 month ago

I was just reading up on Project Linus, and it seems I’ve overlooked something… Boucle yarn is not machine washable, therefore I can’t use that blanket for a Project Linus blanket. :( I was so excited, too! Good thing I didn’t get really far on it and THEN find out.

I think I’ll continue working on that blanket (always good to have baby gifts on hand, eh? OR I could sell it on my Etsy site). We’ll see.

Maybe a small quilt is in order this time. Now I know to pay very careful attention to the details!

Started Project Linus blankie #1  — 1 month ago

I am very excited about this. I bought some beautiful cream Boucle yarn (so beautiful and soft!)I started crocheting last night, and it’s going to be great when it’s done, I think!

I’m probably crazy for crocheting a warm blanket (that’ll eventually lay in my lap) during the summer, but I don’t care.

ooh! a step closer to Blanketeering  — 1 month ago

I finally heard back from the proper coordinator, and she was very nice and helpful. Now to decide what type of blanket to make first.

Project Linus  — 2 months ago

I guess I’ll just use the website’s general rules and guidelines and make a blanket then find a coordinator that could use it… I am very irritated that two chapter leaders did not respond to my e-mail… here I am a willing volunteer, and all they had to do was write back and say hi, and let me know what their specific needs are. Sheesh.

trying to volunteer  — 2 months ago

You’d think if you had a willing volunteer asking questions, and you’re a chapter leader that responding in a timely manner would be highly important, but I have contacted two so far (and in fairness, the second one was only about 1 1/2 hours ago) and have yet to get any response… I just want to make sure that what I am making will be needed and loved by someone.
