Ok, bad news and good news…. bad news is: I couldn’t consolidate them all onto one card because two of them are the same type and they won’t transfer the balance from one to another if it’s already the same company. :( But, we transfered the Sears card balance and so the good news is that I can go to one website to make the two payments and now we make two payments instead of three. That’s progress I guess. Oh, and they charge you 3% to transfer the balance. What a crock! Oh well. Once we’re done with these- they are officially for only true EMERGENCIES.

Just made a payment of $54 on one. New total for that card is: $2650.39 and new overall total is: $7127.19.
I am very seriously considering consolidating the other two to my one card that has the biggest limit, and currently has 0% interest. It’ll save us a bit of money, plus simplify life as we’ll have one payment to make and one total to track. I have until the end of this month to use that interest rate.
I made a $17 payment on priority #1 payoff card because that’s all I dared to part with at the moment. Grr…
And, our total for all 3 is now: $7181.19
Yikes! Hubby says not to worry about one of the cards because the show will pay back a bunch of it, but that’s a long way off.
I have to keep in mind that things will turn around and this won’t be an issue much longer. I know I will feel a HUGE relief when this is out of the way.
Hubby and I put some Christmas gifts on one of our cards that gives us a discount for shopping at certain places. Will pay a large sum on cards after the holidays to make up for it.
total is now: $5703.89
BUT, I can’t give an accurate updated total because my hubby has charged some props for a show that he’s promised to pay back as soon as possible (the show is in February, though, so it’ll be awhile). It’s a setback on paper, but I hope it won’t add to our overall debt. If he does it right, it shouldn’t because much as I love to support his dream, it shouldn’t mess up our finances anymore than the pursuit of my dream would. In fact, my goal is for my dream to HELP support us and eliminate any debts possible. I think we can be free and clear (other than the mortgages and student loans in just 3 years- allowing us to pay extra on mortgage(s) and put a lot into savings and fixing up our house to be more efficient- therefore, less utility expense!) Gosh, I make it sound so simple. Maybe it is?...
I just went into Outlook and put reminders for each of my three credit cards a few days before payment is due so that they pop up each month and I cannot forget. This will prevent anymore late fees!! Small move, but I think it will help a lot.
Right now I am paying the minimum amount on two of them and ‘attacking’ the Sears card. Wish me luck! I hope everyone else is successful, too.
Okay, this feels a tad better- I created my credit card cheat sheet which will hopefully eliminate much confusion and help me avoid nasty late fees.
My new total: $5246.12
Broken down by card:
1st payoff priority- $1649.15
2nd priority- $2759.39
3rd priority- $837.58
I need to create a little card (just for me to see- so I’ll keep it in code a bit so hopefully only I can understand it in case someone else sees it) that lists out all the details for my credit cards because I often forget usernames, passwords, due dates, etc…
THEN, I want a new total to post here to work from. This goal is very important to me, and I am determined to accomplish it by my goal date, so I can set a new challenge for myself.
I just made a $150 payment on the Sears card which is the one I am concentrating on the most. That total is now: $1649.15. I should have a grand total for all 3 credit cards by the end of today.
So, I just paid $15 more and while that’s good… I paid late. :( So, I think the late fees will cancel that out and then some. Let that be a lesson to me. I should pay these early.
I’ll have a new total on here, I hope, by tomorrow night.
