“Dear Baby, I hope someday somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight, without an ounce of selfishness in it.”

“When I was a young man, I admired clever people. Now that I am older, I admire kind people.”
“The most significant gifts are the ones most easily overlooked. Small, everyday blessings: woods, health, music, laughter, memories, books, family, friends, second chances, warm fireplaces, and all the footprints scattered throughout our days.”
The best time to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something or bust ~ Josh Billings
Accept your genius and say what you think ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted then used against you ~ Anonymous
“There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it hardly becomes any of us
To talk about the rest of us.”
(I just found this, and wanted to make a note of it.)
“I’m selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and sometimes hard to handle; but if you can’t handle me at my worst then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at by best.”
”I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
“I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry. And I know you do the same things too, so we’re really not that different, me and you.”

A person isn’t who they are during the last conversation you had with them – they’re who they’ve been throughout your whole relationship.

An entry from a book of quotes that I started to make a few years ago ~ this was from early January of 2008 (the picture above). I’m not especially religious, not really knowing what I believe where any God is concerned, but I liked the quote.
“Because God is never cruel, there is a reason for all things. We must know the pain of loss; because if we never know it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self-interest. The terrible pain of loss teaches humility to our prideful kind, has the power to soften uncaring hearts, to make a better person of a good one.”
