Battling STAPH in the home with my elbow grease can

Is running low…

3 dogs and 1 man are enough. I can’t even entertain the idea of having little babies in the scheduling mix. I clean something everyday and being a carrier of staph does not help things. I’m so clean, it’s scary, and yet I still have brain lapses on all the little things like ceiling fan blades, baseboards, and the dreading kitchen cabinets. But today friends – I am just taking a small break from using up the elbow grease can, just to get some of this dust off my chest. I did enjoy cleaning at one point, but now, it just sucks ass. However, as a woman, I know it will be part of my life as long as I’m living.

I saw a scary thing on TV this morning, a couple living in PA – they had moldy food cans on the counter, underneath! all the clutter – after seeing them – it really makes me feel better about maybe having more dog hair running about that the average American household.

As for the staph, well, if anyone else is having issues, maybe incorporating the following will help

I wash all our clothes and towels in hot water with colorsafe bleach, it works. We do not share towels or use them more than once! I change our sheets every other day. The bathrooms and common surfaces like sinks, showers, door knobs and toilets, all knobs and handles, all get sprayed with Lysol disinfectant spray 2x a day. Common items like the keyboards, mouse, tv remote, and light switch fixtures get sprayed daily. Because staph can live on a surface and it is most commonly spread through hands and touching… We use the antibacterial wash – Hibiclens on our bodies and faces everyday. So far – this has helped tremendously. My boyfriend doesn’t have staph and all these regimens help keep it that way. If anyone out there can’t get a hold on the vicious cycle – just remember, wash your hands with antibacterial soap like their constantly dirty – do not scratch open sores – cover up razor burn, mosquito bites, cuts, scraps, any breaks in the skin with bandages and bactroban or some great new stuff I’ve been using called “Staph-A-Septic” I got it at Walgreens – Hibiclens is expensive but you can buy it in bulk by googling the full scientific name – online vet suppliers sell it by the gallon, but not as “Hibiclens” but as “chlorhexidine Gluconate” – or you can get it from medical supply sites too. To help with not using sooo much of it – I also use Dr. Bronner’s Castille soap in Tea Tree Oil and I’ve been so pleased.

And for women suffering with staph,

I use an incredible wax at home call NuFree. It is soy based, natural, and since waxing I have not had so much trouble with staph infecting razor burn.

If you google it – there are salons that use it to – but beware – salons with iffy practices can spread more harm than good – so have a good relationship with your esthetician or get info and reviews for the salon of your choice – or if you’re paranoid – wax yourself – it’s not as bad as you may think

I ordered the wax with the cloth strips and the wax remover solution-(basically almond oil) online. And the package I bought came with the Finipil cream which helps with irritation. I bought craft sticks from Wal-mart to spread the wax on – but I do recommend getting the official wax melter – because doing it with boiling water is a pain – and time consuming. Everyone has a different threshold for pain – so until you are aware of your waxing pain threshold – take an aspirin before doing it yourself. I haven’t tried the Nads pre-wax strips which come with the all-natural wax already on the strip – they look pretty cool – and if I get the opportunity I will post my thoughts.

For everyone suffering with staph and the toils of keeping a psychotically-sanitary environment – hope my experience can help you with yours.
