More boxes gone through

We spent a snow day recently digging in junk piles. We cleaned off a stack of shelves in daughter #2’s room in order to use them for useful things, and recycled a lot of paper and old magazines. We also got rid of the give-away box we’d been slowly filling since the new year, and set aside a big box of too-small clothes to be handed down to smaller children. The mantel in our bedroom was emptied, dusted and cleaned, and only refilled with a few decorative precious things, not stuff that needed to be thrown out or put elsewhere.

Daughter #1’s room is looking really good since we cleaned out a lot of give-away things over Christmas. If she can keep it tidy with a minimum amount of work, it will stay that way.

Progress

Filing is under way – the groaning card table is empty of paper and junk, and most of the computer equipment is put in one place in the corner. Also sent a bunch of outgrown clothes and toys to charity.

Cleanup underway

Well, we’ve started at the hardest part – the overflowing study. We picked up everything off the floor from one side of the room, threw out a heck of a lot of garbage, and bought file folders in preparation for dealing with the avalanche of paper.
